In association with Félix Picazo and Daniel Bruno, we created Ecomandanga, a platform to disseminate ecological science.

Our vision was empowering people by showing the potential of ecology and biodiversity to address pressing societal changes, such as sustainable food production, biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation.
Our ultimate goal is informing citizens with the latest scientific advances in ecology – rarely included in conventional Spanish-speaking media.

We produce posts written in plain language that can be used as educational resources or to inspire new ideas for entrepreneurs; this represents a novel resource for the wide community of Spanish-speakers worldwide (~600 million people). In 2014, we started Ecomandanga as a weekly radio program (~30 min.), which was distributed as podcasts by a local radio station (ROM Murcia). After this period, in 2017, we launched the blog format of Ecomandanga and progressively gather a team of 18 collaborators, which regularly contribute to our blog.

Since 2017, our blog has published > 300 posts, reaching > 50 countries (including all Spanish-speaking countries) and > 600,000 visits. We also participate in workshops of science communication and collaborate with educational centres to promote scientific culture. Our blog was awarded by the national Spanish Association of Ecology-AEET.
